Cause for Celebration: B Corp Movement Hits 10 Years — and the Future Looks Bright
Filmmaker and Changemakers Mark a Decade of Good Work

In November, Hemming House completed its 10th full year of producing positive social impact films for commercial clients and for the global television market. I can’t believe how fast a decade passes by!
In the early days of 2007 my whole basement was filled with Avid editing suites, film equipment and my team of filmmakers working on delivering our first TV series called “Wrestling Reality.” (Yes, we produced a docu-soap following a bunch of wrestlers as they lived out their realities on the road!) The first television series that we produced proved to me that the world is full of engaging, passionate characters, all with authentic stories to tell and a real impact to make.
A few thousand commercials, videos, documentaries and television series later, we have honed our craft and, as a team, produced entertaining films — and real change. When we learned about B Corporations three years ago and became certified, we felt like we found our people. To be connected to a global network of others who are leading in their sectors by using their companies as a force for good has been humbling, inspiring and motivating.
This year at the B Corp Champions Retreat I learned that B Lab was also celebrating its 10th birthday, so we decided to throw a party the night before the retreat started. We had about 150 people show up to enjoy some great food and hear DJ Jay Cleary drop some sweet Afro-beat. We also shared our ideas about Hemmings House’s plans for 2018 and how we are all collectively builders of the Love Economy (more on that soon).
As we enter 2018, Hemmings House and the B Corp movement enter our second decade, which means we are almost teenagers. And if you remember, the teenage years were a lot of fun, filled with energy, dreams and a sense of adventure.
Enjoy this video, produced by a Hemmings House intern, from that celebration.
