Hemmings House has had the honor of being involved in a number of social impact movements in New Brunswick. Our role in the movement is to create films that help the movement accelerate towards its’ goals. The first movement that we filmed where we saw incredible impact was the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra’s daring move to make classical music education accessible, inclusive and available to ALL social-economic backgrounds.

The role of the documentary process was to help engage community stakeholders, influencers and decision makers in the story-telling and story-creating process. 7 years later, Sistema NB is giving the gift of music for over 700 kids from some of our province’s priority communities every single day after school…for free.

Sistema New Brunswick is a great example of how an elite and award winning orchestra like the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra can be leaders in the new Millennial Dream of our province and our world. Here is a keynote speech I delivered at the SOCAP conference in San Francisco this year where I used Sistema NB as a case study to defend the power of the documentary film making process and it’s positive impacts in accelerating social movements.
